PVC Speaker trials
After setting up my concrete and chainmail in the install pace with the speakers, I felt very unsatisfied, and I realised that while I was really focussed on making my chainmail, I got too caught up in enjoying the materiality of it and didn’t properly realise that it didn’t capture my ideas effectively. After having a freak out and a little cry, I turned to an idea I had earlier of faux pipes, but after collecting my field recordings I wanted to incorporate sound. I though about hiding speakers in the pipes but none of the cheqroom speakers fit. I went to officeworks and got some small speakers, and then I went to Bunnings and bought some storm water pipes. I wanted to play with the corner I had been given, and utilise the sand I had collected from the drains. I thought about how I felt in there, skipping and laughing in the dark with my friends, and how it just felt fun and curious. After trying out a few different arrangements on paper and taped up, I chopped the pipes and inserted my system. Pictured below is the technology I had stuffed within the pipe, it fit so snug, I got lucky.
