Drawing in Space
My initial layout of materials, I was hoping to create a system to draw focus on moisture and evaporation; The PVC piping was able to prompt these ideas into a material articulation.
I then drilled the pipe into place to ensure that hot water wouldn’t tip over. It was the first time I have drilled into wood, so I think this was a good learning opportunity
I cut up an aluminium tube into quarters to try and make a stand which would capture the moisture, and I also cut metal for the first time, so lots of new useful experiences were gained. Next time I would go into the workshop and use clamps, however this time Lilia did the best job imitating a clamp with her feet.
After receiving some feedback from Dane, I decided to tape up the opening with cellophane in order to have the moisture captured in a closed ecosystem, with duct tape covering both ends to trap the condensation. This also allowed for a less visually busy and confusing presentation. I also added electrical tape to the points where the pipes joined to solve the issue I was having with leaks.
