sound and things that arent visual, how can we communicate through paths maps and unseen movement

I have ordered a contact microphone, and I plan on creating an installation with piles of materials and the sounds which they generate, however at this stage I don’t have access to all the equipment I require, so for now I have been using a zoom recorder and i have been recording some sounds. the noises of plumbing, the sounds of echoes in tunnels, electrical static

I am interested in what lies beneath a surface and how we interact with it from above, i feel as if this is a tactile exploration so I want to collect some objects or materials and do some embossing into paper. last semester I was really interested in maps and tunnels and these systems on a much much larger scale, maybe I need to contrast this with a much smaller example and create objects which I can reinsert into tunnels.

I have been using adobe audition to isolate parts of audio recording which i found interesting, these have been birds chirping, echoes, whistles, a rattling sound. I’m unsure what to do with these noises on their own and i’m finding it difficult to create something with sound alone leaving behind a visual object. For the work I need to create for next wednesday, I will create a series of small embossed papers with a sound track to accompany it.

maybe I could be exploring how light and other elements interact with this space between external and internal. do I leave things under drain grills to be exposed by the sun? what would speed this up?

I have thought about sunbleaching as a process because i think i can explore the tactility and spaces around the underneath of objects in a very simple way, so I have used a piece of test fabric to experiment with.
