crit

I was having a lot of trouble stepping away from a visual element so I presented an animation alongside my soundtrack which wasn’t successful, and I think the soundtrack itself was too busy and short. I got some feedback which shifted my thinking to look at the speakers as objects instead of simply something that was generating sound.

Notes from crit-

  • eerie

  • footsteps

  • plumbing, dripping, echoey

  • jumping dancing lines

  • projected onto a wall

  • digital animation

  • contracting

  • get a sense of time, pulsating like a heartbeat

  • lines moving out and pushing back in

  • there is a sense of life to the lines

  • organic object

  • there is an ongoing energy

  • you can see each frame

  • stop motion

  • clogged/blocked

  • dental floss

  • anticipating something that’s about to happen

  • dark eerie place

  • conjuring a dark damp echoey place

  • underground tunnel

  • claustrophobic

  • metropolitan, traffic, drains

  • late at night in a city

  • movement, a passage, tunnel, travelling in deeper through a space

  • multiple speakers would be better

  • reminded someone of the show at Buxton

  • sound is coming from you like a video game

  • Archie barry westspace, speakers in a wall

  • Lydia Raman, sounds coming out of the floor

  • think about speakers creating space
