Critique

Notes

  • connection to place, her tunnels and physically in the perspective of going into the tunnel

  • sound is echoing

  • binaural

  • smell of water

  • dampness

  • change in intensity of contrast

  • the middle one is highest in contrast and visually striking

  • sense of speed

  • sensations, moving fast

  • sense of movement even with map overlayed

  • hurricane, planet, like big bang

  • a wormhole, bacterial

  • screenprinting in the sense of material and printing process, the stamps of bacteria and the maps

  • overlapping is like bone

  • the colours and angles change throughout the pieces and the tunnel looks longer in the left (b&w print)

  • the maps and bacteria overlayed almost make it look flat and the hole looks smaller

  • the perspective changes with the diagram lines

  • use of material in centre piece (large good paper) seems more established and archival, as if it is out of a street art magazine while others look more diy

  • a proper print is more centred and the paper makes the centre one stand out

  • the pieces almost analyse the grafitti making it seem scientific

  • looks decomposed

  • the centre one makes it unclear if the sizing is intentional; is the paper and image sizing on purpose? it looks like an impression of a tunnel

  • the map looks like a tunnel system which shows a diagram of how the tunnel operates underneath the image of the tunnel (physcially) while it is shown literally above the image

  • the mapping system- is it like stored water, how is it connected to water?

  • good to have on all 3 fabrics; it will create depth, and the focal point would provide a 3d view if on the wall

  • the tunnel draws people in

  • the different layers can be seperated and can all come together in the final presentation
