Drains

I’ve been exploring local drains near my area, upon my first visit I wasn’t able to find much, the drain was blocked off and I could only take pictures from the outside,

https://www.uer.ca/urbanadventure/www.urbanadventure.org/members/drains/uacity/maze/d_maze.htm this link from a website last updated 24 years ago gives an overview of the experiences of the drains, while issuing the warning that the ‘exploration of drains by inexperienced people may lead to death and injury. You may also shit your pants. For this reason no one should ever go in the drains okay. No I am not being sarcastic, this stuff is really dangerous.’

Their list of warnings further terrifies, https://www.uer.ca/urbanadventure/www.urbanadventure.org/members/safety/warning.htm

Initially I wasn’t going to these drains because I was very scared, so I visited my local drains, however I was aware that these would not be as fruitful as the drains that scared me. So a friend of mine asked a friend of his who is familliar whith the draisn, if he was willing to take me to the maze drain. Tomorrow is the day, but I refuse crawl or jump or do anything that seems truly scary. I was much more scared at first, but now i’m getting a bit excited, and I’m thinking i’ll vlog it.

The little aspic thing at the top of my prints is in reference to an art collective my friends and I are beginning to develop, and the pink draws a bit of soft delicacy into a very harsh and concrete structures of drains, and I want to view them as a relationship between humans and containers, the need to contain and be contained, the constant enveloping.

After speaking with Dane, I have realised that I need to step out of the format that my images need to be overlaid onto a single image and I should begin thinking about how I can take up space

I am thinking about vlogging, maybe i’ll explore some artists who have also done this, how will I edit it to enhance the auditory and sensory feedback I received frim my critique?

I think the next step is to go to my site and collect more photographs, and videos and think about how else I could communicate this relationship of people and containment

spreading it across a wall

on a larger scale, blue algae maps independent from the tunnels

focus on the more minute elements, the textures the temperature, the colours, relationships between people and water
